Instructables and Howtoons are great websites that one can use ideas to create and build their creations.

There are instructional manuals.  These manuals encourage creative problem solving skills.

At Howtoons, their mission is "to provide engaging content".  Using comic format, kids can build things.

This site offers PDF for downloading comics and the site features a content search.

The Opper Project.....Comics in the Classroom

Using Editorial Cartoons.  http://hti.osu.edu/opper

Cartoons for the Classrooms is a service that provides lesson plans based on editorial cartoons created by editorial cartoonist.  http://nieonline.com/aaec/cftc.cfm#  is from Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. 

Students can use these strips to show that they have fully discovered the meaning behind the cartoon.  Students can also capture meaning by using a comic strip generator, to describe their point of view of an issue that is shown on one of the editorial cartoons.

Comic Museum

Curriki

http://www.curriki.org/  Curriki is a free site where teachers can share lessons and resources with everyone;  It is from K-12 open learning resources. The resources can be browsed by subjects.

VoiceThread

VoiceThread is an online version of the program Photostory.  An online tool that is a multimedia slideshow where one can use voice to add comments add audio files or video. Group conversations are collected and shared in one place.

Flickr

Flickr is a photo sharing site.  Within the site, there is a creative common section that students can go under.  Students can use these pictures for school projects.

Comic Books--Graphic Novels

In my May 17 post I mentioned a site where we can access comic books but they are geared more for Teens. This next one, Love to Know Children's Books is a website that list sites to locate free on line comic books to help promote literacy. I was surfing the net when I came across this website. It gives a list of free online comic books that are available as full issues and are completely free. They are not appropriate for children so they are more fore teens.

When teaching about copyright we talk about what public domain is. One of several sites that I mention is ookaboo. This site offers free pictures of everything on Earth.

Students can use these pictures on web sites and for classwork: It is copyright-friendly for anyone to use.

Music for Projects--free broadcast use

If you need music for a project, students can use Free Play Music.....it is free. The site states that FreePlay Music is free for personal, private and non-commercial use. Just click on the picture and browse.
