Kahoot is a free game based learning platform. Students can answer a series of multiple choice problems played in a group setting. These created games promote student understanding and engage peer-led discussions. It is a student response system that allows teachers to create games and quizzes.  

Digital Portfolio - SeeSaw

SeeSaw is a digital portfolio teachers can use to do formative assessment and share what the student is learning with parents on any device. Student learning can be captured in any format and saved. The SeeSaw Basics feature is free for teachers who just want to track work and communicate with parents.

Interactive Whiteboard Lessons-- ShowMe and Educreations

ShowMe is a whiteboard interactive app.  You can record lessons that you create so that students can view them and learn.  It is a global community where you can share with anyone in the world. There is also an online website that you can log into to view and share ShowMe lessons created.

Remind

Remind is an app tool which was formerly Remind 101.  This is a good app to mention again.  With Remind you can text your students without disclosing your cell number.  You can schedule messages, attach photos, recording, etc.  You can control who can reply to you as well.

Science 360

Science 360 is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  This site is a video library on up to date view of current science, engineering, technology and math from around the world.  The website features video of the day and videos are embeddable.  There is a list of topics to select from and a search box.  This site is free to use.  It is also available as an app for ipad and android.

Nearpod Free App

I came across the Nearpod app. I haven't tried it yet, but I read many positive reviews for using this app in the classroom.
What is Nearpod?
On the itunes preview page it states that "Nearpod enables teachers to use their ipads to manage content on student iPads, iPhones or iPods. It combines presentations, collaboration, and real-time assessment tools."
Teachers share their slides with students and are able to control the pace of the lesson and monitor student responses.

View PowerPoint from an iPad

My daughter purchased Quick Office app to do PowerPoint presentations from her iPad.  I decided to search around for an app that can produce PowerPoint presentations for Free.  Slideshark is such an app that a PowerPoint can be shown from an iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.  https://www.slideshark.com/

Socrative .... Edcanvas ...... Quiz Taking

Socrative is a student response system that allows teachers to create games and quizzes.  "Students interact real time with the content."  Socrative runs on laptops, smartphones and laptops.  Very easy to register and login.

Edcanvas now allows a teacher to "Add Quiz" on an empty canvas tile, and add questions and answers.  Then it automatically grades the quizzes for you.  I mentioned what Edcanvas is in my March 22nd post.

Socrative and this section of Edcanvas create, "Formative assessments and it helps you guage student understanding after a lesson."

Wordmover for Poem Creation

Text students with ...... Remind101

My daughter knows that I am always looking for free web tools, so she brought Remind101 to my attention because her teachers are using it as well.  Remind101 is a safe way for teachers to text students, keep in touch with parents and keep phone numbers anonymous. If there is something school related that you wish to remind your students to complete, just text them the information.  (Click on image.)

Skype in the Classroom

Padlet

Post Revisited:  On an earlier post I mentioned Wallwisher.  This online tool is now called Padlet.

Padlet can be used for teaching, noticeboards, discussions, quizzes, lists, watching videos, etc.  You can share, export, email and print your wall.

Project Noah....Connect with the Natural World through Investigation

I love it when I stumble upon sites like this!!!

Project Noah help students experience nature through which they solve real-world problems.  This site is for students to share their experiences with wildlife and they are given oppotunities to make a difference.  Students make observations and investigations on key concepts in the Life Sciences and share their work with the Project Noah community. 

Teachers can sign up and set up their classroom. Resources and teaching materials are available.  Great enquiry based curriculum and critical literacy.

EdApps

Using apps and iPad in the classroom.  This site has a page that gives 14 ways to use Garageband in class.  One example is using voice over for movie trailers. There are also fun educational tidbits such as creating book trailers.  Another tidbit is 13 ways to use imovie in the classroom.  A lot to explore on this site.
